Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is the removal of dental pulp from a tooth. The pulp is the area of a tooth, within the hard layers, containing all the blood and nerves that help the tooth grow. When the pulp is injured, dead, or infected due to a flawed filling, deep cavity penetration, or a crack from trauma, it needs to be removed. If the compromised pulp is left untouched, it will get infected and lead to an abscessed tooth, which introduces many serious oral health problems.
Not to worry, with the benefit of local anesthesia, most people claim that a root canal is no more painful than filling a tooth!

The dentist applies local anesthesia to numb the area of the tooth undergoing the root canal.

The subject tooth is isolated with a rubber dam to protect the surrounding teeth and tissues from saliva and bacteria.

On the subject tooth, the dentist creates an opening to access the root canal system and the compromised pulp.

With delicate hands and specialized tools, the dentist cleans out the pulp and slightly enlarges the root canal system.

After the canal is cleared, the dentist fills the void and seals the canal. The opening of the tooth is also sealed with a temporary or permanent filling.
After the root canal treatment, the dentist may refer to a prosthodontist who specializes in tooth restoration. The dentist may then apply a dental crown or permanent filling to return the tooth to its natural aesthetic and functional form. The method of resotration depends on how strong the remaining parts of the tooth are post-root canal treatment. Typically, the back molar teeth will require a crown since the act of chewing applies a lot of force on those particular teeth.

So I was back at the dentist again today! It met every expectation. I was nervous, once again all the staff made me feel at ease. They make sure when your appointment is at 2pm it’s at 2pm.. unlike most make you wait an hour or more!! I could just go on and on about this pace.. just simply amazing
