Dental Implants
Tooth loss is something we all hope to never deal with. But with today’s technology, losing a tooth is nothing to worry about because it can be replaced by a natural looking and functioning replica – with dental implants!
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jaw bone to support a single tooth, bridge or denture. After the implant is placed it takes a period of 4- 6 months to integrate itself into the jaw bone. The dentist will monitor the implant healing through regular follow-ups, and the permanent prosthesis (crown, bridge or denture) can be placed when healing is confirmed. Once the process is complete the tooth looks, feels and functions like a natural tooth.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
- During implant procedures local anesthesia is applied to numb the nerves around the area. This makes it a pain free procedure.
- When you go home, you may be prescribed with painkillers to easily manage any pain from the operation until the pain goes away.
- Dental implant procedures can take between two to nine months, depending on the treatment plan, and rate of tissue bonding to the implant. Once the tissue effectively heals by bonding to the implant, your dentist creates a replacement restoration that looks and functions like a natural tooth.
All components of a dental implant are high quality material that is strong and durable. Dental implants are designed to last a lifetime with proper care.
It is never too late to get dental implants, as long as you have adequate bone structure su that the titanium root of the implant can fuse with your bone tissue. To assess your bone structure, your dentist can complete an x-ray, exam and medical history.
This is one of the most common questions that is asked by our patients. Your dentist will be able to provide you with an answer after he or she performs a detailed dental examination.
